WHO AM I

Who Am I is a personal film I am filming all by myself. The story is by me and filmed by me. I am using Real time tracking to make the vfx pipeline easier. I am also using a Edelkrone rig to shoot the footage. Allowing me to program the camera’s rig to do an animation on its own.

I am also leading a VFX team of volunteer artist to help me to complete the VFX. The film is VFX heavy, so having a team to create the VFX with me is amazing.

As of now on my team I have Compositors, FX artists and a VFX Producer.

I shoot the film, create the 3d environments, create the vfx pipelines, composite shots, do motion capture for animation shots.

As I go, I will post some of the work in here to view. When each episode is done I will then post it on Youtube.

Filming this project I am limited to space, recourses and time. So one thing that I have decided to do was to incorporate POV shots(which was inspired by Framstores “flite”). To be able to create shots that I would not be able to do otherwise. So for this shot I used the real time tracking system and filmed myself acting out the scene. I then took the 3d camera and scan into my city. Placed it where I needed it. Finally I lit the scene to my liking. I added the second character which is a character is a hologram. I used Niagara system to create the effect, who is linked to a mixamo character. Allowing me to animated it with Maximo animations. I then had the fx artist on my team to create a gun transition effect. this was made in Houdini then brought over into unreal. I then used a materiel parameter to control the transitioning with the opacity.

This is the first time we see the second character of the scene. This is a hologram that only appears through the eyes of the main character. I filmed this scene with the table , cereal and bottle on a green screen. I took the real time camera into unreal. I then set dressed the scene around the table. Next I animated a Mixamo character to do basic talking motions. I took that Mixamo character into a Niagara system and created a basic hologram effect with it. I then attached the Niagara system to the animation to finalized the look. I then rendered the scene out using unreal reader in nuke. In nuke I integrated everything together. keying, lighitng correction, bring hands over the table, and adding a reflection.
